JUDY MULLEN HOPPER was happy to see all of the positive District happenings on social media, including the tree planting partnerships at Windsor Hills and Overholser with OKC Beautiful. She loved to see the community involvement in school beautification. She encouraged parents and staff to contact PC Communications with events and happenings throughout the district so they can be highlighted.
CHARITY AVERY congratulated all of the band members who participated in recent competitions. She thanked those that made the difficult decisions to cancel a recent athletic event due to heat, explaining that heat is not often considered.
GAIL LOPRESTO highlighted that she is proud that Lyric Theatre goes to many of our elementary schools for programs. She loves to see the community involved in our schools in such a way. She recently attended an orchestra concert at PCH and loved the concert. She also recognized the City of Warr Acres for its street signs that showcase the individual schools in their city limits. She loves the school spirit and pride on display by the City. Mrs. LoPresto recently attended the PC Foundation’s Board meeting and thanked the Foundation and the individuals involved who make such an impact on our District. Tonight, we are pleased to share several exciting accomplishments and initiatives from across our District.
First, congratulations to LeeAnn Adams from Windsor Hills Elementary for having her “Operation Read, Learn, and Play” classroom grant funded by Oklahoma Educators Credit Union. This $700 award will enable her to purchase books, enriching the learning environment for her students. We are always proud of teachers like Ms. Adams who go above and beyond to create innovative and rewarding experiences for their students.
Additionally, a big league congratulations to Seth Barton, a teacher at Capps Middle School, who is now one of only two Major League Soccer referees from Oklahoma. He recently officiated his first MLS game in Kansas City. Mr. Barton not only excels in the classroom but also serves as a remarkable role model for our students through his achievements outside of school.
We are also thrilled to recognize PC High School Coach Willis Alexander, who has been named to the 2024 Langston University Athletic Hall of Fame. Coach Alexander continues to inspire his athletes with his dedication and expertise, both on and off the field.
We also want to highlight the incredible efforts our District is making to improve attendance through the Be Present, Be Bold initiative. Recently, PC West held its first “Attendance Fiesta” to celebrate nearly 300 students who have shown excellent attendance. We are always excited to see initiatives that make school both rewarding and fun.
Finally, we want to remind everyone to “Save the Date” for the 2025 Putnam City Innovation Bond Election on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 (the week of Valentine’s Day). At the next Board meeting, the Board will be voting on a resolution to call for the election. Several elections are coming up, in addition to the Bond election. We encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote and have their voice heard. This Friday, October 11th, is the last day to register or update your voter registration before these two important elections coming up.

The rhythms and melodies of Hispanic Heritage Month filled the assemblies at Rollingwood and Hilldale Elementary! Students sang and danced alongside their peers and special guest performers, celebrating the vibrant culture together.
Mathis Home and Feed the Children donated 100 backpacks filled with school supplies, personal care items, and food to support our homeless students across the District! We are forever thankful for community partnerships like these that make a big difference for our Putnam City students.
OKC Beautiful visited the budding little 'saplings' of Overholser Elementary. It was all hands on deck—or should we say in the dirt—as everyone played a part in planting beautiful, fresh trees. Every tree planted is a lesson in patience, growth, and the plant life cycle.
The Coronado Cougars had an "amped up" Friday celebrating Rock Your School Day! Their special guests, the Putnam City High Step Team, kicked off the day with some amazing moves, setting the tone for rockstar-themed educational lessons that spread throughout the entire school.
Across our District, students have been learning all about the Constitution in honor of this renowned day. Some of the fun activities included discovering how the Constitution was created, drafting their own versions, and even signing a replica of the established document with their own names!
Putnam City North and Putnam City High cheerleaders are making sure a living legacy of spirit surges throughout their schools as they teach the littles how it’s done!
Slides, Strikes, And Steals Heat Things Up For These Athletes! Putnam City High held the annual PC Softball Tournament! The Lady Pirates and Lady Patriots had a battle full of sportsmanship, great plays, and a lot of dirty jerseys!
The PCW Patriots celebrated their positive attendance last week with a one-of-a-kind Fiesta! Nearly 300 students qualified for the event where they got time to just chill with friends, eat pizza, snacks, and cotton candy, and play a variety of games together.
We received a couple of check-ins from some notable alumni. Jacob Bettencourt is doing well for his freshman year at West Point after graduating from PCH last year. Madilynn Converse, PCH graduate from 2021, is a sophomore at the United States Air Force Academy. We are so proud of our former JROTC cadets and how well they are doing at their respective academies.
Do you have an alumni update? Send it our way so we can celebrate Where They Are Now, After the Cap. Email information to info@putnamcityschools.org.
Congratulations to PCH Senior, Henry Peterson, for receiving a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program for his academic successes. Way to lead the pirate ship, Henry!
