The new School Board room within the newly opened Centennial Center has been renamed and dedicated to Gail LoPresto. Gail is the longest-serving Board Member in Putnam City Schools.
Tonight is truly a special moment for Putnam City Schools. Earlier today, we celebrated the official ribbon-cutting of the Centennial Center. We had our legislators, city leaders, school board, members of the business community and school community present to celebrate this new, vibrant space for our District. The excitement and energy surrounding the event will carry with us for a long time. This new facility will serve as a gathering place; a place where important decisions are made and where celebrations occur. This Centennial Center will truly showcase the pride and bold spirit of Putnam City for many generations, past and present.
Today is also meaningful because it marks the very first Board meeting in the newly dedicated Gail LoPresto Board Room. Gail’s leadership and lifelong commitment to Putnam City have left an indelible mark on our District. It is fitting that her name and legacy now live on in this space where the decisions and discussions will forever positively impact our students and community.
To experience both the opening of the Centennial Center and the dedication of this Board Room on the same day is a reminder of the strength of our history and the promise of our future. We are deeply grateful to our community and bond voters for making this building happen and creating these milestones for our District. We look forward to going boldly together with the endless opportunities that lie ahead.
-Dr. Fred Rhodes

Putnam City Schools was thrilled to invite members of the media, community leaders, legislators, and local city leaders to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Putnam City Schools Centennial Center building and park on Monday, October 6th. The new building is physically located at 5500 NW 40th St., Warr Acres. Our address will soon become 1914 Centennial Pkwy.
We heard from Superintendent Dr. Fred Rhodes and Putnam City Board of Education President Steve Burger, then, with the help of all guests, cut the ribbon to officially open the new building. The PC Centennial Center and Park will serve as a landmark facility designed to be a vibrant and empowering hub for the District to continue to “Go Boldly.”
Capps Middle School hosted this year’s District Chess Competition, where Cooper, Hefner, and Mayfield joined for a morning of strategy. The room was silent, the focus was sharp, and every move mattered! Congratulations to all our bold competitors!
After reading Pumpkin Jack, each class took a pumpkin, packed it into damp soil, and sealed it tightly. Now they’ll get to watch the circle of life unfold, from decomposition to brand-new sprouts over the next few months. One student put it best: “You have to be patient!”
With only five weeks of school completed, PC West and its future Patriots from Mayfield and Western Oaks were already concert-ready! West Fest featured orchestral classics with some pop/rock anthems sprinkled in. Thank you to our Putnam City music directors for making this magic possible!
We’ve all been there, staring at numbers that don’t add up in our heads. PC High's Physics classes used water droplets to track their own speed and position, seeing the math unfold in real time. With creative teaching like this, our students see that complex ideas really can make sense!
PC North students imagined a scene, planned their design, and got to work! Layer by layer, these Panther artists turned flat cardboard into 3D sculptures.
With class competitions and one-of-a-kind shopping cart float parade, the Panthers let loose celebrating Football Homecoming. Trends come and go, but there will always be something special about Homecoming in Putnam City.
From learning the fundamentals to cheering each other on, these Wildcats are growing their game and their teamwork. What if we're watching one of the next great legends of soccer?
Students and staff dressed like rock stars and faced off in a school-wide rock-paper-scissors tournament, where each player started with beads and passed them on when they lost. The ones with the most beads at the end were crowned champs - the perfect finish for a day of school spirit!
Kindergarten at Harvest Hills had a core memory kind of day! They celebrated Johnny Appleseed’s birthday with Apple Day, filled with fun, learning, and plenty of apple-themed festivities!
Putnam City West Volleyball honored its senior athletes during a District matchup with PC High. Moments like these remind us that competition matters, but so does celebrating our students and their dedication, hours of practice, and juggling homework with game nights. We are Putnam City Proud!
Putnam City High's fast-pitch softball team recognized three players and one manager at Senior Night for their commitment and leadership. We can’t wait to keep cheering you on through the rest of your senior year and beyond!
Putnam City High’s Ms. Berger and Rollingwood Elementary’s Mrs. Wade recently took part in a NASA-supported rocketry workshop through the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance. They built and launched their own rockets, and brought back full class kits so their students can get hands-on this year!
