November 6, 2023
As we enter the month of Thanksgiving, it is with great pride that I present the latest accomplishments from members of the Putnam City Family. The outstanding performances of our students in academics, fine arts, and athletics serve as a testament to their unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence. Recently, volleyball players from all three high schools received honors from the Oklahoma Big 7 Conference, including Alana Hutchins from PC West as Standout Senior and Abbie Evans from PC High for Defensive Player of the Year. We are also PC Proud of Riley Coburn, PC High junior, for her selection to the 6A Speech and Drama All-State Cast. We are also very proud of our three high school football teams who will all be going to the State playoffs this year! The last time all three PC High Schools went to State was in 1994. Our Putnam City students consistently exemplify remarkable achievements and talents.
Another incredible accomplishment we are thrilled to celebrate is the remarkable success of an esteemed PC High School alumnus, Andrew Heaney, for his instrumental role in the Texas Rangers' triumphant victory in the MLB World Series. Heaney’s journey to success serves as a shining example to our current students. His dedication reaffirms the belief that with perseverance and hard work, one can ascend to remarkable heights. Andrew was inducted into the 2022 Putnam City Athletics Hall of Fame; however, we cannot wait to welcome Andrew back to Putnam City in the future to recognize his latest achievement. Above all, our students, past and present, continue to make us PC Proud.
This evening, I’d also like to highlight some staff members who are going above and beyond. Our dedicated custodial, maintenance and buildings staff are often behind the scenes, cleaning and working tirelessly to make repairs, so our buildings can continue to serve our students and staff. As we enter the cold months, these tenacious staff members must shift gears from air conditioners and chillers to heaters and insulated pipes. Our support staff are instrumental in the everyday functions of our District. We are so thankful for them!
This past weekend two Putnam City teachers were honored as 2023 NextGen Under 30 award recipients. Congratulations to Madison Cude of PC High School and Mary Rockwell of PC North as they proudly represent Putnam City Schools!
As we continue to foster a sense of unity and togetherness within our district, I am always pleased to witness the increased family and community engagement during this time of year with “Title nights”, Veterans Day Assemblies, Thanksgiving programs and winter concerts. We extend a warm welcome to families and the entire community to join us for these seasonal events.
And finally, another big initiative this time of the year is the Putnam City Foundation’s CareShare program, ensuring that every PC family experiences the joy of the holiday season. The involvement of the volunteers and family adopters will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the lives of our students and their families. The Foundation is looking for adopters to make sure that all wish lists are fulfilled. I encourage everyone to help, by visiting the link at the end of today’s Go Boldly Bulletin. Please sign up and donate to the program.
Happy Thanksgiving!
-Dr. Fred Rhodes, Superintendent

The 11th annual PCH and PCW JROTC march and push-up contest was a textbook display of spirit, camaraderie, grit, and competition.
