The students and teachers may be off enjoying their summer break, but summer is still a busy time across Putnam City Schools, and this year is no exception. Our Operations Department is hard at work on several important projects that will enhance the learning environments and safety of our schools.
A glimpse into some of the projects that are happening includes thirteen schools receiving brand-new furniture this summer, helping create more modern and comfortable classrooms for our students and staff. In a major step forward for school safety, weapons detection systems are being installed in all elementary schools, completing this long-awaited project of having these innovative devices in all of our schools. This proactive measure underscores our ongoing commitment to keeping students and staff safe.
Finally, a couple of big projects include PC North receiving an interior remodel, giving the building a fresh, updated look, and across town, the new kitchen at PC High is scheduled to be completed, which will significantly improve food service capabilities for students and staff. Lastly, another project nearing completion, the Centennial Center construction is moving right along. We are excited about the opportunities this facility will bring for students and staff across the District.
We are grateful to our Operations team for keeping these important projects on track during the summer months. Their work helps us ensure that our schools are ready to welcome students back in August with improved facilities and enhanced security.

Our principals stepped into the role of language learners to better understand what our English learners experience each day. They learned practical ways to support strong, inclusive teaching in every classroom for all students. By exploring how language can impact learning, our leaders are working to make sure every student is set up for success!
