SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

As we begin to approach the end of the school year, a time when we celebrate milestones, achievements, and the collective success of our District, we first turn our focus to an important stretch of state testing. I want to thank all of our educators and support staff for their hard work all year long to get our students prepared to do their best.

Next, congratulations to our District Teacher of the Year, Felicia Reasnor of Dennis Elementary. She was announced last week at our annual Teachers of the Year Celebration where we also honored all of our site teachers of the year. The District Teacher of the Year recognition reflects not only Ms. Reasnor’s dedication to her students and colleagues, but also the passion and excellence she brings to the profession each day. She challenges her students to work hard at being “professionals” in all that they do. We are proud to have her represent our District and excited to cheer her on as she begins the State Teacher of the Year application process.

We also want to recognize an incredible achievement in athletics. Congratulations to the PC North Girls Basketball team on winning the state championship for the second consecutive year. Impressively, this marks three straight years that a Putnam City girls basketball team has brought home the 6A state title; a testament to the strength of our programs and the commitment of our student-athletes and coaches.

Additionally, congratulations to PC High senior, Rishi Patel, who was surprised this morning at a school assembly with a $60,000 scholarship from OG&E. This is a significant honor and a reflection of his hard work and bright future ahead. Rishi plans to attend the University of Oklahoma this fall, and we wish him continued success.

Finally, best of luck to our juniors this Wednesday as they take the ACT. We know they have been preparing and are ready to do their best. As a reminder, freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will have a virtual learning day.

-Dr. Fred Rhodes

HAPPENING AROUND PC

Cooper Middle School CareerTech

Students flipped the script and became the teachers for three days of live drone demonstrations at Northridge Elementary. Fifth graders learned the basics of piloting and control and even took over for a few flights of their own!

Oklahoma! At Putnam City West

Putnam City West students have turned back the clock 120 years as they bring Rodgers & Hammerstein's 𝙊𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙖! to the stage. There are still two chances left to experience the romance and rivalry of life before statehood.

Little dots + lots of focus = art

Students at Capps Middle School are practicing pointillism, where tiny dots come together to form one cohesive picture, like pixels on a computer screen. It’s a technique many students revisit from elementary through high school, and it’s always fun to see their artistic vision develop along the way!

From 5th grade competitors to high school mentors, this year's 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗱 was fully student-driven and full of discovery. Elementary students from schools across Putnam City tackled hands-on challenges while high school SciOly members organized materials, judged events, and kept the competition moving.
